Kim Cattrall - aka the iconic Samantha Jones - has revealed her favourite outfit from her time working in Sex and The City and shared the funny story behind it.

Speaking to a group of fans at the Rizzoli Bookstore in New York City - in a clip shared on TikTok - Kim was asked if she had a favourite outfit from her time on the show and launched into the tale of how it nearly never came to be.

‘Oh my god, so many,’ she replied, taking the microphone from the host. ‘I remember we had terrible hours on the series; 19- 24-hours days. Pat [Patricia Field, the stylist on Sex and The City and a good friend of Kim’s] had ordered this outfit which I’d tried on, but the pants came too late to have them hemmed. So it was literally 4 o’clock in the morning, and I was in an elevator, being accused of having sex in the elevator by all my neighbours, and we were supposed to do it in a different location but suddenly we were standing up in an elevator and my pants hadn’t been hemmed. And this woman, this icon, who cares so much, who’s so humble, was on her knees hemming my pants and I said, “Pat, isn’t there someone else who can do this?”

‘[She said] “I’m here, who cares?”’.

Some social media sleuthing has uncovered the outfit in question: a black and red blazer and trouser suit with matching top, that she wore in series three episode six, when Samantha had, as Kim recalled in her story, been slut shamed by her neighbours for having sex in the lift.

Commenters were thrilled by the tidbit, with one writing, ‘Thanks for sharing this! I love her and miss Samantha so much 😭😭,’ and another saying, ‘Kim is so mature. I stand with her as far as the trauma she experienced on that show, but she doesn’t deny how iconic she is and the impact the series.’

When Sex and The City made it’s long awaited return to screens with it’s 2021 reboot And Just Like That, Kim shattered hearted by declining to take part, after a long and well documented public feud with her cast-mates, telling Piers Morgan in 2017, ‘We've never been friends - we've been colleagues. And in some ways that's a very healthy place to be, as you have a clear line between your professional life, and your personal, too.’
