Why Bringing Gillian McKeith Back To I’m A Celeb Was A Genius Move

Gillian McKeith I'm a celebrity

Gillian McKeith has returned to the I’m A Celebrity jungle, appearing to the All Stars camp out of a box in South Africa last night.

“It’s going to be more terrifying this time because back then, I didn’t know what to expect but this time I can’t use that as an excuse,” the Scottish TV nutritionist said about her big return.

"What I felt before feels 1,000 times worse now and all of it freaks me out but I feel I’ve got a calling to represent all the scaredy cats in Britain – and that is the reason why I’ve said yes.”

Other I’m A Celebrity All Stars contestantsinclude: Janice Dickinson Amir Khan, Helen Flanagan, Carol Vorderman, Fatima Whitbread, Paul Burrell, Phil Tufnell and Jordan Banjo.

Here’s why her return to I’m A Celeb is utter genius, and is bound to shake the entire series up.

She’ll be reunited with Shaun Ryder

Fans are super excited for Gillian to share the jungle with fellow former contestant Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder, who had been her nemesis during the 2010 series. He called her “a daft old bat”, among other things, and she told him off for smoking.

Sparks are likely to fly once again this time around – Shaun told his campmates “last time I wanted to kill her”, and had previously told Ant and Dec: "If Gillian was my wife, she would be in pieces in a plastic bag, deep in a hole in the back garden.”

He also confided in the bush telegraph: “Gillian arrived in a box, she should have stayed in a box, folks.”

Reports say that ITV bosses are hoping for more rows between Gillian and Keith, and for them to potentially embark on a bush tucker trial together.

One fan tweeted: “However this series pans out, putting Shaun Ryder and Gillian McKeith in the jungle together again is a genius TV move.”

We could be in for more golden Gillian Moments like her pre-trial “faint”

Any I’m A Celeb fan probably recalls Gillian’s dramatic faint back in 2010, after being informed she would be carrying out a bushtucker trial.

Many at the time, and since, have accused her of faking it to avoid having to go through with the challenge.

To be honest, who wouldn’t faint at the thought of a bushtucker trial?

Will she be exempt from all trials?

During her previous time in the jungle, Gillian ended up being excused from trials after receiving a “sick note”, causing controversy and riling her fellow contestants up, who weren’t extended the same courtesy.

Fellow campmate Stacey Solomon said to Gillian at the time: "Honestly Gill, if your phobia is that intense and that bad and you're having to get up and deal with it every day. It's hard for us to hear it as well."

Either way, her aversion to trials is likely to shake up the camp, giving us all the more entertainment and drama on the new series.
