Quick question: if you had to guess, how many years has it been since you watched Reese Witherspoon as Melanie Smooter, successful New York City fashion designer who has to return home to Alabama to finalise her divorce from her hometown sweetheart? Ten, maybe? Fifteen at a push? Wrong – it’s been twenty.
Next question: what do classic Pixar film Monsters, Inc. and the second Harry Potter film have in common? Seemingly nothing, right? Wrong again. They both came out two decades ago this year.
And so it seems: 2002 was a pretty good year for film. Even if we can’t quite believe some of these came out that long ago, we’ll take the slightest excuse to rewatch them.
