Clueless is getting its second reboot for TV - but there’s a twist, as it’s going to be all about Dionne.

A spin-off TV sitcom ran for three seasons between 1996 and 1999, following the 1995 hit film which starred Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash and Paul Rudd, based loosely on Jane Austen's Emma. (Though Cher in the series was played by Rachel Blanchard, Dash did play Dionne.)

But now there's going to be a very modern reboot.

Deadline{ =nofollow}reports that an hour-long drama series is in the works at CBS TV Studios, with Stacey Dash’s character Dionne ‘Dee’ Davenport set to be the central focus.

The site describes the high-school set series as a ‘Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo{ =nofollow}music video’ (which sounds amazing) after Cher mysteriously disappears.

They continue, ‘It is described as a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when the high school queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong No. 2 Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans.’

It will be written by Will & Grace writers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey. We don't know when it's set to be in production - but as soon as we find out, we'll be sure to let you know. If it's picked up in the US, it's set to be aired on CBS.

However, the news has had a generally negative reaction with many begging for the iconic film to be left alone. As one user tweeted, 'Does everything need a reboot? Are there no original ideas in Hollywood? Leave Clueless alone, a TV show was already tried once and failed!'
