Cut to season two: and inconveniently, Gabriel decides to stay in Paris, which makes things sneaky and awkward for Emily, who doesn't want to jeopardise her friendship with Camille. But the truth - finally! - comes out at Emily's birthday dinner, when Camille notices the omelette pan Gabriel gave Emily in the kitchen. (Remember, this is a giveaway as - for some reason - the Hot Chef is famous for his omelettes.)
After putting two and two together, Camille delivers an epic speech at Emily's birthday party. 'To Emily, our hostess - who has certainly made her share of mistakes in Paris,' Camille begins, raising a toast. 'She pretended to be my friend, while she had an affair with my boyfriend. And my boyfriend fucked my fake friend!' As everyone looks on in horror, she then downs a glass of champagne. So chic, so French.
However, on watching this fateful scene, we were reminded of another cheating horror story... And we couldn't help but wonder if the writers for EIP have been watching vintage series of MIC. Remember when Hugo Taylor and Millie Mackintosh's relationship came to an end, because he cheated with her best friend, Rosie Fortescue during season two?
The showdown happened at Francis Boulle and Mark-Francis Vandelli's birthday party, where, just like Camille, she decided to call Rosie out during a toast, saying: 'A second toast to my best friend Rosie for hooking up with Hugo Taylor when we were together and lying about it.' Ouch. (Of course, this was just a blip in the road - as Millie and Hugo are now happily married.)
So, what do you reckon? It's very hard not to see the similarities.
