Millie Mackintoshhas been on our beauty radar since that very first season of Made In Chelsea when she was pitched to the nation as a Chelsea-based make-up artist with darned glossy hair. That was way back in 2011 if you can believe it - yep, that makes us feel old too! - and since then we've followed her journey through the reality TV show and beyond. Today, Millie is mother to baby Sienna and married to fellow original Made In Chelsea cast member Hugo Taylor. This week she revealed to her Instagram followers that the couple were expecting their second child. Like all of us Millie's beauty habits have changed considerably in just under a decade, especially since giving birth to Sienna. When Sienna was 9 months old Millie spoke exclusively to Grazia about her ride-or-die beauty heroes, the skincare rituals she tries to make time for come what may, and even the baby products that are so good she uses them herself.

On The Pregnancy 'Glow'

Much is made of the pregnancy 'glow' and Millie is the first to confirm that it's no mere myth. 'I definitely noticed that I had a glow about me when I was pregnant. One of my friends even guessed that I was pregnant before I told her, she said she could tell from my face and my skin. I had that really glowing complexion at the beginning but my skin ended up taking it too and became very oily. I got a few breakouts.'

I was very aware of that pregnancy glow

'I was very aware of that pregnancy glow, though, that was a huge boost. When you're dealing with all those other symptoms that come with pregnancy that aren't so great, it's nice to have one that actually makes you feel good.'

On Making Time For Skincare As A New Mother

'I definitely have much less time for skincare now. I'll often get to midday and realise I haven't washed my face or brushed my teeth which isn't great,' Millie laughs, 'But it happens and you just go with it.' So what does Millie's skincare routine consist of now? 'It's pretty basic. If I’m taking my make-up off I useLancôme Eau Micellaire Douceur Express Cleansing Water, £41.50, and their Lancôme Bi-Facil Makeup Remover, £23.50.' Millie has been an ambassador for Lancôme for a while, and it's clear that her love of the brand is as strong as ever. 'In the morning I use Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser, £45, and then Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Acid Serum 10ml, £85, and a moisturiser. I've been using Dr. Barbara Sturm's products for a long time now. My skincare routine is quite simple. On top of that I use an SPF. I like the Heliocare SPF 50 Gel, £25. If I have time I put make-up on afterwards, I love Lancôme's Skin Feels Good Skin Tint Hydrating Healthy Glow, £26, but if not I'm good to go.'

On Baby Skincare Essentials

With such illustrious beauty credentials herself, it's no wonder Millie was well-prepared when it came to her baby Sienna's skincare. 'Looking after Sienna’s skin is a top priority for me. I was buying products before I even had her. I wanted to make sure they would be gentle and pure enough to use without irritating her skin.' Millie is now an ambassador for WaterWipes too, though her friends had recommended them to her long before Sienna's birth. 'WaterWipes, £2.80, have been an absolute life saver – a lot of my friends recommended them to me and said they’re the only wipes that they use on their baby. I use them on her during nappy changes but find that they’re very useful to have on me day-to-day for any kind of spillage. She’ll get milk all down her face or be sick and I want to keep her clean so her skin doesn’t get sticky and sore – I end up mopping up various different fluids with them! I have them in every bathroom in the house. I use them myself too, to refresh my skin on the go, or whilst I'm doing my make-up if I've made a mess or want to wipe foundation off the back of my hand.'

'For bath time I love the Neal’s Yard range, they do bath a mother and baby line. I love their Neal's Yard Organic Baby Massage Oil, £7.50, which smells of lavender. I find lavender really relaxing and she seems to too. I try to give her a massage when I can. I can’t at the moment because she’s wearing a brace,' Sienna has just been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, 'but I’ll be able to again soon.'

WaterWipes aren't the only baby product that Millie pinches from Sienna's skincare collection. 'I find that if I’m running a bath for myself I’ll use Sienna's Dr. Barbara Sturm Baby & Kids Hair & Body Shampoo, £35, which is a baby bubble bath, for myself because it’s really gentle. I end up sharing that with Sienna. Nipple balm is always really great used as a lip balm too, in fact I used to use nipple balm on my lips before I was even pregnant. I had used Dr. Lipp's Original Nipple Balm, £12, for years because they used to sell it at Space NK and I’ve recently found another one that I love too from Nessa Organics, Nessa's Nipple SOS, £19, and they do a scar cream too, Nessa Organics Nessa's Scar Saviour, £25. I had a C section so wanted to find something that I could use to help reduce the appearance of my scar.'

On Her Top Tips For New Mothers

Millie's heartfelt advice for new mothers is simple. 'Sleep when the baby sleeps. That really helped me in the first few weeks. Whatever else needs doing can wait – you have to look after yourself so that you can look after your baby. Next, accept help. Say yes to whatever anyone offers to do, don’t feel like you have to do everything yourself. And finally, trust in your instincts'. Wise words from a happy new mother.
