Finally! And Just Like Thatis officially streaming on Sky Comedy and NOW today. The Sex and The City reboot is already setting social media on fire, now we're able to have a long overdue catch up with Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York. The reboot focuses on the best friend's navigating life in their fifties, from balancing careers to relationships, and friendship changes.

However, without one very important original character in the reboot, there is also a lot of tangible disappointment. Sex and The City fans have finally learned about the disappearance of beloved character Samantha Jones – and all is not well.

Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, allegedly fell outwith Sarah Jessica Parker during the original SATC days. Very early on in the process it was revealed that she would not be returning to the role, and fans have long been speculating about how this would play out on screen.

And now we know. In the opening scene of And Just Like That reveals Samantha is no longer speaking to her friends Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte. And Just Like That explains Samantha ended her friendship with Carrie after she was terminated as her publicist. ‘It’s kind of like she’s dead, we never talk about her,’ Carrie explains to Miranda in one early scene. ‘She stopped returning my calls.’

Miranda replies, ‘Her pride got damaged,’ with Carrie adding, ‘I thought I was more to her than an ATM. I always thought the four of us would be friends forever.’

We also learn that Charlotte and Miranda's phone calls and texts to Samantha have also gone unanswered, and she has relocated from New York to London.

It was once rumoured that Samantha Jones may die – thanks to a viral TikTok. This thankfully was not the case, but viewers are still not impressed. Fans of the show have taken to social media to air their frustrations about the way the character has been written out of the show.

However, this might not be a permanent fix as the current explanation has still left the door open for her return. A source told the Daily Mail that there are hopes for a second season for the reboot and that show runners would be keen to have Kim back. The source added that Carrie will be keen to repair their friendship in the series.

They also revealed that the series will focus on Carrie trying to repair the friendship with Samantha. They reported, ‘You’ll see as the series progresses over the 10 episodes that Carrie misses her friend and wants to repair the relationship.’ Could life imitate art?
