Another week, another set of pictures from the And Just Like That set to pore over. And all we can talk about right now is Carrie and Aidan's second chance romance. We've seen him at the table having brunch with the rest of the girls and now it seems he and Carrie have a new apartment together.
The latest images show him and Carrie stepping out of a new apartment - one we've not see before. The cream coloured doorway and the balcony are definitely not from Carrie's building: so could this be a new apartment that Carrie and Aidan have moved into together? Remember, we've previously seen them filming scenes shopping in Bed Bath & Beyond - were they kitting our their new home?
Then there's the cat that Carrie holding on the balcony. Which according to the picture agency is called 'Shoe' (although we have not been able to independently verify this information as of yet). Is this Carrie and Aidan's new pet? Carrie isn't exactly known for her love of animals - SATC fans will remember she struggled with Aidan's dog Pete - but we always thought of Carrie as more of a cat person anyway.
What does seem clear: Carrie and Aidan Vol 2 (or should that be Vol 3?) is looking pretty rosy. If showrunner Michael Patrick King and producers are trying to cause a stir ahead of the season two, they're succeeding - for nothing is more decisive than the return of Aidan. For Team Aidan, he was the nice guy that got away; the man who grounded Carrie in a way that Big never could, the man she should have always ended up with.
But for those of us in the other camp, these latest pictures are fuel to the anti-Aidan fire. While, yes, there is the thrill of a SATC comeback and all the nostalgia that brings, surely it would have been more exciting to see Carrie back not he dating scene, or at least in a relationship with a new man, so we had a whole new character to get to know (and have opinions on)?
There are still those who maintain this is all part of an elaborate 'what if?' fantasy sequence - a device that has been used before in the SATC universe - but surely now we have to accept Aidan is back for real. And in a big way (pun intended).
