A woman named Yvette Amos has been lauded a ‘national hero’ today after appearing on BBC Wales with a dildo in the background of her video link. Brought on TV to discuss her experience of unemployment in lockdown, the giant sex toy sat on her bookcase behind her – with eagle-eyed viewers quick to point it out.

Nestled among books, board games and birthday cards rested the life-like looking dildo, complete with veins and all. Notable for its exceptional girth, many immediately took to social media to discuss the hilarious interview. So much so, 'Yvette Amos' immediately began trending on Google and Twitter.

Of course, the internet is now divided on whether or not the sex toy is real or some sort of novelty display. Some speculate the dildo could actually be a candle, others wonder if it’s simply art. We might just be hornier than ever, but to us it definitely just looks like a giant dildo. When appearing on the news though, you would expect one might check their background.

Perhaps Yvette knew it was there all along and is hoping to normalise the stigma around women using sex toys? Perhaps she just wanted to give the nation a laugh during the dreariest January of our time? Or, perhaps, like many of us whose brains aren’t working terribly well right now, she genuinely just forgot it was there – I mean, if you haphazardly place your sex toy on a bookcase while moving around the house, you’re hardly going to think to check there for it when you eventually realise it’s not in its designated place… the sex toy draw.

Either way, we’re obsessed with Yvette and everything she represents: including all of the memes that have come from the hilarious interview. From developing a whole fan base of sex-toy supporting viewers to Bernie Sanders being popped in her place, here are the funniest reactions to dildo-gate so far…
