Today, a statue of Princess Diana is being unveiled in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. In commemoration of what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday, Prince William and Harry are both expected to pay tribute to their mother at the event.

It's been a much-discussed memorial this week, with many hoping to hear the tributes and watch the unveiling. In fact, right now, 'BBC News live' is a breakout search term on Google Trends in relation to Princess Diana as people attempt to tune into the statue unveiling. Unfortunately for those people, they will find no such live broadcast of Princess Diana's memorial.

According to reports, todays tribute to Diana was purposefully kept as private as possible - with all UK media banned apart from the Press Association and one TV operator. Reports state it was Prince William's decision, in support of Prince Harry's wish to keep his families lives more private.

That means theres no way to watch the Princess Diana memorial unveiling as it happens, but one can assume since here is a TV camera present that footage will be released afterwards to show the public the statue. Whether or not we will hear Prince William or Harry speak of their mother remains to be seen, but there is already tons of footage online to show Princess Diana's family arriving at Kensington Palace for the tribute. What we do know is that Harry and William also arrived separately, and are expected to give separate speeches too for their mother.

While some may be disappointed they can't watch Princess Diana's memorial unveiling live, it's a decision many will understand and respect given Prince Harry and William's relationship with the tabloid press following the death of their mother. There will be tons of commentary, many headlines and lots of footage shared - that we can bank on - but on such an emotional day, having some privacy to grieve their loss and celebrate Diana's life is the least they deserve.
