If your Instagram feed is anything like ours, you’ve probably noticed a flood of black and white selfies along with the hashtag #ChallengeAccepted. But what is Challenge Accepted on Instagram? And where did it come from?
Challenge Accepted (AKA the Black and White Challenge or the Women Supporting Women Challenge) is a way for women on Instagram to support and celebrate other women by sharing a black and white selfie. Once nominated, you then share your own picture and privately message 50 of your closest female friends to keep it going.
We’re not sure where it originated or who started it in the first place, but several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Kerry Washington, have noted that they were nominated by Vanessa Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s widow. Regardless, an Instagram challenge whose only aim is to spread positivity is definitely something we can get behind now more than ever.
As with most social media challenges, this one’s open to celebrities and normal people like us alike — but the celebs seem to really love it. From Jameela Jamil to Jennifer Garner to Laura Whitmore, here’s the best celebrity Challenge Accepted posts on Instagram. Let’s keep building each other up, yeah?
