Fleabag’s own dating life might be a disaster, but she sure is creating a lot of love around the world. That is, according to Tinder, which counts her among the most mentioned women in bios for 2019.
According to Tinder’s Year In Swipe research, which details how we’re all using the dating app from emoji’s we love to who we’re matching with – Fleabag sits among a prestigious list of popular women included in the bios of dating hopefuls everywhere.
Others on the list include Ariana Grande, JLo, Jennifer Aniston, Greta Thunberg, and most surprisingly Theresa May. Essentially, these are the women we were all talking about this year, so much so we thought we’d make a love connection by bonding over them.
It’s unsurprising when you consider how popular Fleabag is but given that Tinder’s audience is skewing more towards the Gen Z kids – it says a lot about how mature this lot are. Because, while we were all off bonding over Jersey Shore and Tracey Beaker as teens, Gen Z are discussing a programme beloved by 30-year old women around the world.
And it’s not just their TV tastes that are more mature than we were. Gen Zers also bond over ‘mission/causes’ according to Tinder, with both those terms more three times more likely to be in their bio than travel. That is, compared to millennials, of which travel is still the most popular term.
‘Millennials connect over adventure, while Gen Z bonds over changing the world,’ Tinder’s research notes. We feel very, old and very selfish right now.
That being said, with Fleabag, changing the world and veganism high on the list of trending Tinder topics, maybe there’s hope for the next generation after all.
