Oh, the internet, how easy it is to turn every slight glance or stern look into a royal scandal. The latest? Kate and Will allegedly fighting as they arrived at King Charles coronation, based on literally one picture that shows their family entering Westminster Abbey with somewhat tense looks on their faces.

‘Major “fight in the car” energy from all four of them,’ My Royalty Account tweeted, to thousands of likes and hundreds of retweets. It’s seeming to be a common assumption online, with many social media users tweeting that the video of Kate and Will arriving was beyond awkward.

With rumours that Kate and Will were actually late for the coronation, it’s not hard to believe that they were all a bit stressed arriving to the biggest royal event of the year. But fighting? Perhaps we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

As per the abundance of images from past royal events, Kate and Will often appear to take each and every ceremony quite seriously. Just think back to the image of Kate used for the trailer of Netflix’s Harry & Meghan docu-series, which at the time appeared to show her absolutely fuming with Meghan, but later was proven to be a badly caught moment after which both women were jovial with each other at said event.

Many women are familiar with being perceived as stoic or stern when their face is resting, and Kate is no stranger to that thanks to the very royal traditions that prevent family members from showing too much emotion.

So, maybe they were fighting, maybe there were just walking into one of the biggest royal events of the century and felt the need to keep things serious? It’s either that, or they were late after all – and nothing says stress like turning up late to your dad’s coronation with three kids in tow.
