Jessica Biel Has Been Spotted Without Her Wedding Ring But Is There Any Significance In Removing It?

Three months after Justin Timberlake’s ‘strong lapse in judgement’ – you know, the time he was caught getting up close and personal with his Palmer co-star, Alisha Wainwright – Jessica Biel has been spotted without her wedding ring.

Leaving her local pharmacy, Biel was pictured carrying shopping bags sans gold band on her finger. Given the couple’s recent history, with Timberlake putting out a statement apologising to his wife after he was pictured holding hands with Wainright, many people are now asking: what does this all mean?

For some, removing your wedding ring is a marked statement. It might signify marital trouble or act as a warning sign to your husband. For others, however, it’s part of their night-time routine – something they do whenever they shower or go to bed. At least, that’s what we figured out when we asked married women themselves.

‘I never take mine off,’ says Rhiannon, 35. ‘Maybe it's because it's a simple band, but I keep it on for showering, exercise, all of that stuff. I think if I took it off it would be for a reason, personally.’

‘I take my ring off as soon as I open my front door,’ states Anna, 40. ‘It’s part of my wind-down routine – along with tying my hair up and popping on loungewear. I also seldom bother at weekends. My husband laughs that I NEVER wear it. It’s just another piece of jewellery to me.’

‘I never get why it’s a big deal to remove your rings and find the whole “celeb sends message to media via their ring finger” farcical,’ Jenny, 48, adds. ‘At weekends I hardly ever wear my wedding or engagement rings, except if I’m going out. Just because I’m always doing DIY or washing up or going to the gym or something.'

Many of the women to whom we spoke had similar experiences, removing it mainly for household activities. And while most of their partners apparently wouldn’t notice either way, there were some who would take it personally.

‘I don’t wear my engagement ring very often but I never take my wedding ring off because I love it,’ says Jess, 36. ‘I may have done when I’ve been baking or something like that but I think if I was taking it off on a regular basis, or for no real reason, my husband would probably be a bit concerned even though he’s so laidback. To us, it is a real sign of our commitment.’

With Biel, there seems to be a lot of assumptions that she’s signalling some sort of trouble given her recent marital ‘embarrassment’, as Timberlake put it. Judging by other pictures of the actors, both of them normally wear their rings outside the house. That being said, until Biel makes a public statement there’s really no way to be sure.

We’re hoping she just took it off to do some gardening because, recent history excluded, these two have always been marriage goals for many.
