Tinder has released their first official statistics analysing our usage of the dating app over the course of a year and one obvious conclusion reigns supreme: we're all basic AF. From our most used GIF's to the top Spotify athems in people's bio's, it's proven that UK singletons are all obsessed with F.R.I.E.N.D.S, pizza emojis and Drake. And now we feel like we need to sit down with a therapist.
Tinder's Year In Swipe was released yesterday, scouring the bios of it's 50 million users and breaking down the data by country. It found that across the US, UK and Australia the F.R.I.E.N.D's 'How You Doin?' GIF remained the most popular opener, and across all countries with Spotify Drake’s In My Feelings was the #1 Spotify Anthem. In nine different countries, pizza was in the top 10 most mentioned foods in bio's, with the beer emoji alongside it in every country except the UK, Germany and Russia- where the top emojis were puppies, wine and dancing respectively... which really says a lot.
Looking at just the UK, we got even more basic. Travel was the most popular term in bio's and Taylor Swift was the most popular celebrity. The best finding that really symbolises the UK single market though? The fact that the tag 'entrepreneur' resulted in the most swipes right for men and women. Basically, we're all still being fooled by people who live in their parents basement, buy bitcoin one time and think their an entrepreneur.

A lot of work was put into this Tinder opener. A* for effort.
When you really assess all of the data, it's not exactly unsurprising. However, one thing definitely is, the most popular time people use Tinder: Monday at 9pm. Is the Sunday comedown slowly creeping into our Monday evenings? Or are we just most productive with our dating life at the start of the week?
There we were scrambling on a Thursday night swiping every other random hoping for a date at the weekend when really, we should've been putting the work in earlier in the week when everyone was online. Then again, if we we're really serious about dating in the first place we would've put the work in earlier in the year when cuffing season first started and guaranteed ourselves a Christmas present...
We still have time for Valentine's Day though, which is of course Tinder's most popular holiday. But there's another surprise when it comes to their most popular month. We would've put money on it being December, when we're all drunk 24/7 and hoping to get a NYE date, or even September when Summer winds down and everyone seems to start coupling up. But in fact, the glorious month that we're all swiping most is March. MARCH. The only explanation that we can think of is that people want to secure Easter Eggs. Which to be honest, fair enough.
