Not content with ruling our lives with their Specialbuys for everything from garden and interiors to make-up, you can now buy budget-priced tutoring from the supermarket.
Though as ever with the Specislbuys, once they're gone... they're gone.
The supermarket have become the first to offer private tuition online for families, as it’s revealed that 77 per cent of parents are worried about their children falling behind academically.
The offer gives families two tutorials for £18 in partnership with online one-to-one tuition platform MyTutor – that’s a 55% discount on standard rates and makes the lessons the cheapest on the market they say.
Reports have claimed that around 2 million children carried out little to no schoolwork during lockdown and over two thirds (71%) believe their child would benefit from private tuition, but 84% admit that tuition is simply out of reach financially .
There are only 2,000 of the packages available - the lessons range from Primary level (Key Stage 2) through to A Level, with over 30 curriculum subjects for parents to choose from.
Bertie Hubbard, CEO of MyTutor said: 'This launch could not come at a better time given parents’ concerns about increasing learning gaps before the start of the new academic year. One-to-one tuition has been proven to boost progress by five months and so we’re delighted to be working with Aldi to help more children get back on track with their studies so they can start the new school year full of confidence.'
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director for Corporate Buying at Aldi, added: 'At Aldi, we believe that low cost should never lead to compromise. Our great value and amazing quality Back to School ranges have proven extremely popular in the past, so we wanted to help ease any back to school stress by offering private tuition lessons at an accessible price. With education being hugely impacted by the worldwide pandemic, we hope this launch will help support parents and children across the UK.'
You never know what you'll come home with when you leave the supermarket middle aisle these days...
