Aldi Lacura Beauty Products Review

When you receive an email entitled ‘Brand-New Aldi Beauty Products From Just £2.49 And All Cruelty Free’, intrigue is sure to follow; particularly when the Lacura range (Aldi’s dedicated beauty offering which covers skincare, body care, make-up, hair care and candles) garners a lot of hype online, with many 5-star reviews. In all honesty, we’ve been put off Lacura products due to their ‘dupe’ association (let’s call a spade a spade, they’re known for ripping off luxe brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Benefit, Jo Malone, and NARS, to the point we’re not entirely sure how they get away with it).

However, we decided to put this copycatting momentarily aside (a convo for another day) and set off on a mission to try all of their latest launches (some new, some old faithful’s returning) with the aim of sorting the so-so from the standout beauty buys worth getting your hands on now.

Aldi Lacura Cheeky Cheeks Palette, £4.99

By far the standout powder in this trio of bronzer, highlighter and blusher is the matte-finish bronzer. A non-shimmery, finely milled powder, it blends well onto skin and lends a natural looking bronze. The highlighter is of the OTT variety – so if that's not your glow preference, then swerve applying this onto your skin and use it as a popping golden eyeshadow accent on the inner corner of your eyes instead. Finally, the blusher is definitely on the shimmery side – if that's your cup of tea then it's well worth a whirl.

Aldi Lacura Caviar Night Cream, £6.99

With several 5-star reviews, this affordable night cream contains caviar extract (rich in protective antioxidants) and is said to boost hydration while you snooze.

Aldi Lacura Highlighter Stick, £2.994 of 5

Aldi Lacura Highlighter Stick, £2.99

In all honesty we didn't have high hopes for this highlighter. In fact, we expected it to deliver the type of mega-watt glow that can only be achieved with full-impact make-up. But we were wrong. The formula lent skin a natural-looking, dewy finish glow, and the scribble on stick was a breeze to apply, requiring minimal blending. Simply swipe on top of your cheekbones - post-foundation and bronzer – and watch how the formula subtly reflects the light. Suitably impressed, and our favourite of the Lacura summer beauty buys.

Lacura Rejuvelate Day Cream, £3.49

A good day cream to protect and hydrate skin, this moisturiser contains SPF30 and dries down to a matte finish that works well under make-up. Warning: if your skin veers on the oily side, avoid using too much as it's a very rich texture.
