To say the Scandi aesthetic is having a moment is something of an understatement.

Just as we’re filling our wardrobes with Copenhagen-based fashion labels like Ganni and Stine Goya to recreate the effortlessly cool style of influencers like Pernille Teisbaek (the former's 'Charron' design and the latter's star-print 'Freesia' dress are two of this year's most in-demand styles), we've also been looking to the Nordic nations when it comes to decorating our homes.

Scandi interiors style is all about simplicity, with a dash of cosiness (that’s the part that’s responsible for the endless stream of stocking-filler books about the untranslatable – and, to most of us, unpronounceable - concept of ‘hygge’). Think sleek white walls, industrial-style pendant lighting and clever use of different textures. Essentially, it's a very good advert for a more minimalist way of life.

With Copenhagen rapidly emerging as Scandinavia’s undisputed design capital, we’ve scoured Airbnb to find the Danish city's most stylish properties (who said Pinterest was the only source for home inspiration?) - and to borrow some simple interiors lessons that we can put to good use in our own homes.

Don't be afraid to play around with contrasting textures. Here, we've got multi-dimensional art pieces placed on exposed brick, plus throws in different materials on the wood floor - and it really works.

Love rose gold? Maximise its impact throughout your room by using complementary warm tones in your choice of fabrics, wood and accessories (it'll pop especially well against a cool white backdrop, like this one).

We've said it before and we'll say it again: a round mirror is the easiest interiors investment you'll make.

A gallery wall doesn't have to dominate the whole room to have an impact: using pictures of the same size with regular spacing can create a more calming effect, while still adding interest.

Add interest to a monochrome set-up with a touch of greenery and some well-placed floral decorations (fruit works just as well, too).

A colour co-ordinated bookshelf is always a winner - especially when it's the standout element in a mostly monochromatic room, like this one.

A feature wall can fit seamlessly into a Scandi-style home aesthetic: just opt for a stylish darker accent shade over an attention-grabbing print.
