At yesterday's opening event for the Chelsea Flower Show 2022, Princess Beatrice dressed the part in a floral frock that was the perfect outfit for wandering through manicured flowerbeds. In a style that she often turns to for public events - a hemline that hits the mid-calf, a cinched waist and a set of puffed sleeves - she also proved that being best in show doesn't have to command a four-figure price tag.

The dress in question is by Reformation, The Carolena, comes in at a cool £248 - and still available to buy in sizes 4-14 (size 16 is sadly sold out). Although it might not be suitable for wedding guest season, depending on how militantly you stick to the 'no white at a wedding' school of thought, it couldn't be more ideal for picnics, christenings, barbecues, whatever the summer calendars throws at you.

The royal accessorised with a pair of buckled black pumps, a top-handle bag and a black hair bow. Grandma would approve.
