But that’s not to say it’s a new thing. In fact, the Lanvin logo was famously based on a photograph of Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter Marguerite, dressed in matching costumes in 1907.
In 2018, fashion historian Jennifer Farley Gordon told The Atlantic that the the matchy-matchy look flourishes in ‘time periods when there is more cultural emphasis on the family and the mother-daughter relationship’.
