It's hard not to dream about the end of lockdown, and the world slowly blooming open like a daffodil in spring, when you look at the latest designer collaboration to launch as part of Moncler Genius. 1 Moncler JW Anderson, from North Ireland's Jonathan Anderson, is all about nomadic characters and a spirit of adventure, with vast seascapes, fishermen sailing in deep waters and reflections of the sunset serving as inspiration.
The collection, launching today with prices starting from £230, pays homage to the designer's first love: arts and craft. A vintage quilt was the springboard for the series of intricately quilted pieces, from the pistachio-coloured skirt to the cinch-waisted beige coat, while the eyelets and tri-stitching details of sailing apparel appears on the parkas, field jackets, shorts and cargo pants, all of which are cheerfully colour-blocked in the kind of shades that you might see on a children's bucket and spade kit.
