Marks & Spencer’s New Collection Is Landing And Holly Willoughby Is Excited

Whether you’re a lifelong fan, or only swing by for its Percy Pigs and Christmas sandwich selection, M&S’ new season drop is always an exciting moment. In this case, it signals the official shift from summer to autumn on the high street when sundresses, sandals and swimwear are replaced by the cosy tenets of the cooler seasons, knitwear, sensible wool trousers and, dare we say it, winter coats. So what’s on offer this autumn?

For starters, some great outerwear staples. The double-breasted camel coat that hits just below the knee, and has a hint of Max Mara, will rival the famous sell-out pink coat. While the faux shearling aviator jacket, that comes in black and burgundy, will make anything it’s thrown over look that little bit cooler. Wine-coloured clothing suits autumn’s personality to a tee by the way, and there’s a polka dot skater dress and midi skirt in a pretty shade of Pinot Noir.

With many still working from home, M&S has delivered a ruffled-collar blouse worthy of Zoom, as well as a geometric-print shirt dress that shape-wise looks a lot like the styles a certain royal has been wearing for public duties. Finally, as jumper season approaches, and this rather discombobulating mini heatwave disappears, M&S has a cable-knit number that will fit nicely over long-sleeved floral dresses in either egg yolk or cream.

Holly Willoughby is already a fan and got a sneak peek of the collection at home. Photographed by her children, Harry, Belle and Chester, who also oversaw her hair and make-up (cute), she modelled two of the collection’s hero pieces: the camel coat and the printed shirt dress.

‘During quarantine, I managed to get a sneak peek of some of the gorgeous new M&S autumn pieces and just had to try them out at home. My children became official photographers for the day and captured me in some of my favourite pieces. I particularly love the tailored midi coat, it’s a great colour and a classic that I will wear again and again throughout the season and beyond,’ she says. Don’t hang about.
