When it comes to taste, it doesn't get much more refined than Jil Sander. That's why J+, her famously great collection for Uniqlo, is always the fashion editor's first port of call when it comes to high street collaborations. The latest collection has just dropped - and is a testament to the fact that basic doesn't mean boring.
Sander's outerwear is always a highlight, especially when combined with the retailer's expertise in the world of down. The Volume Jacket, available in black, navy and off-white, has a high collar that will protect your neck from the elements and trumpet sleeves that make it look more fashion than function (although there's still plenty of function). The Cashmere-Blend Wrap Coat is also something special - and has the ability to be dressed up and down for work or play.
The knitwear, as expected, is also unparalleled for cut and quality. My favourite is the 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool Cardigan, which could be worn buttoned up as a sweater dress (if you don't mind minis) or open over a crisp tee and jeans combo. The V-Neck Cardigan is also a staple for this cold-weather season when layers that are easy to slip on (and peel off) are essential. Finally, the shirting, which has some beautifully elevated examples. The Silk Bow Tie Long-Sleeved Blouse is the modern way to do the power pussy bow; The Supima Cotton Shirt Jacket, meanwhile, would make a simple pair of black trousers look instantly more sharp.
