Ganni is known for its collective spirit (the #gannigirls) and commitment to sustainability so its next choice of partner makes perfect sense. Depop, the app which has more than 30 million users worldwide and has become the cool-girl face of the resale economy, is all about championing its community of small business-owners, many of whom are women. You know what comes next... Ganni x Depop!
The Danish brand has hand-chosen six sellers, including the musician/seller Griff, to rework one of its famously oversized collars, upcycling them embroidery, embellishment, fraying and trimming. The Peter Pan styles are one of the brand's signatures - as 'Ganni' as its lime-and-black checked minis or leopard-print maxis - and are all available, via each sellers' page on Depop, for limited runs at £65.
@kezmadeit has given hers a pastel tulle trim, while @rosvae has used free machine embroidery on her ditsy-print collar, and is also giving 20% of proceeds to Fashion Revolution.
'At Ganni, we’re always looking for new ways to rework existing fabrics and become more responsible,' says creative director Ditto Reffstrup. 'It’s been so exciting working with a collective of all-female creatives to bring some big collar energy, and make them feel fresh and fun again. I love how Depop is so easy to use as a platform –and like Ganni – is all about celebrating expressing your individual style and connecting with a community who care about a more circular and responsible future.'
Depop is similarly committed to fashion that is kinder to both people and planet. 'At Depop, we want to reshape fashion consumption by promoting and celebrating circularity - and getting people excited about it through new creativity. ’ says chief brand officer Peter Semple.
