Boho is back with a bang for summer, I don’t need to tell you that, but alongside the delicate, Wuthering Heights-esque frocks and cork wedges, there’s another sartorial staple that’s taking over and it might surprise you. Yes, bloomers are here for 2025 - and you know what? I'm sold. As someone who is trousers and jeans first, dresses second, this blousy hybrid gives all the ethereality of a boho dress but with the added practicality of trousers, all of which culminates in the ideal piece of summer clothing.

Brought back to the fashion zeitgeist during Chloé’s spring/summer ’25 collection, shown in Paris late last year, the bloomer has emerged as one of the more surprising trends of the season. Whilst Chloé’s soft pink bloomers will stay on top of my summer wardrobe wish list, there’s another pair on my radar that are just as good. Enter Free People’s Forever Young lace-trimmed bloomer-inspired trousers, a style you might’ve already seen crop up across your Instagram explore page.

How to wear bloomers?

Treat them as you would a summer skirt and wear with tank tops, T-shirts and layered polo shirts (another trend of the season) finished off with suede jackets or vintage leather rather than structured blazers and trench coats. I’ll be wearing mine with lace camisoles, faded oversized T-shirts or gauzy cheesecloth blouses for a ‘70s-inspired boho aesthetic. Shoe-wise, my top tip would be to avoid anything too structured (e.g. loafers) as these will look a little out of place. Instead, think soft suedes, tonal leather sandals and ballet flats for the perfect combo.

Surprisingly comfy, bloomer-style trousers are ideal for days spent lounging at home or heading out for a day in the sunshine.

Switch things up by choosing this super cute peachy colour instead of cream or off-white. Still not convinced? They also come in chic black for an easy-to-wear version.

For a ready-made outfit, try this boho co-ord that'll look just as good as a loungewear set as it will with sandals and sunnies.
