Can you hear it? That clomping sound in the far distance? It can only be the boho girl-brigade, stomping their way to the nearest park/festival/dreamy daytime activity. And the footwear of choice for the sartorially free-spirited? It's the ankle-breaking, towering cork wedges. Blink and you might confuse 2025 with 2004.

Taking this throwback to its logical conclusion, the leader of this frilly-edged style revolution could only be the woman who also led the charge twenty years ago, when denim minis, waistcoats and fringed suede boots swept up our wardrobes like a nu-romantics tidal wave of Woodstock paraphernalia: Sienna Miller. Two decades on and little has changed, it transpires, as fashion’s gear shift (courtesy of Chloé’s creative director Chemena Kamali), is feted by Miller, who, at Kamali’s first runway show for the French house in February last year, already donned the ultimate boho footwear.

And to prove how serious the style set is taking this aesthetic throwback, cork wedges have now left the designer (price tag) spheres and migrated to the high street, where they give the boho proposition legs. Russell & Bromley has launched its own iteration of the dizzying soles, making us reconsider whether heels should - in fact - be back on the dressing menu this summer. Feeling tempted? Move with caution and pack the blister plasters.
