This is how January goes: we recover from our NYE hangover several days later than expected, vow to renew our ClassPass and get excited about the new Spring Summer trends. But, hold your horses, it's still bloody cold outside. That bikini will have to wait.
Sure, there's no snow on the ground but SS19 trends are lost in translation when bundled under layers of knitwear. Tie-dye doesn't have quite the same impact when paired with gloves and thermals. Until the sun stops setting at 4 pm our new season garms will have to be put on pause.
In the meantime, what do you wear? We're making the most of the sale and embracing perennial trend pieces like shearling jackets and cashmere sweaters. In other words, items we know will have currency come next winter.
Looking at January's agenda is another way of picking the pieces your wardrobe is missing. After last month we've reached our fill on sequins, so we're pivoting our after dark ensembles in the direction of tailored trousers and knit dresses. December gave us a non-stop social calendar while our foreseeable weekends include Netflix and yoga, so we're pivoting towards cosy sweatpants and puffa jackets. When that commute to work hits you with a blast of the Baltic winders, be thankful for Alexander Wang's heattech undies and M&S's trusty jumpers.
Winter, we see you, but you will not beat us. Especially not when we have these 18 pieces to protect us from your unfriendly weather.
