It's no secret that we're glued to Love Island. But as well as drinking in the drama, we're looking to this year's contestants for some serious style lessons. If you're lagging behind, Tasha has been crowned the best dressed islander, winning this weekend in vintage Versace; Poster Girl is the party girl brand of the summer; three-piece bikini sets are now a thing - and so are sunglasses chains (thanks, Luca). Most popular, though, has been the £20,000 'X' necklace worn by Gemma Owen, which sparked its own internet obsession as eagle-eyed fans tried to identify the brand.
And in the past few weeks, we've noticed a slightly more subtle accessory that the contestants have been wearing again and again - the body chain. Amber Beckford, who recently left the show, has paved the way for the Y2K trend in the villa, seen arriving on day one sporting a simple gold waist-chain to accessorise her simple black bikini, and continued to wow us with, what we're now calling, her signature accessory.
New bombshell Antigoni is also a fan - wearing a body chain for both her surprise entrance into the villa and her first (triple) date with Jay, Dami and Davide. And the islanders aren't the only fans. We’ve seen the waist-skimming jewellery all over Instagram - thanks toDoja Cat and Hailey Bieber - as well as on the spring 2022 catwalks at Chanel.
Body chains are one of the top trending pieces this summer with a 50% increase in search interest, according to experts from DC Jewellery, so it's no wonder the high street is brimming with body jewellery. Missoma, Astrid & Miyu and Bohomoon are also offering a great selection of body chains built to last, and while Bohomoon's chainsmight be a little more expensive than those on the high street, they're entirely waterproof which means they won't tarnish even after swimming or piling on the suntan lotion.
