Uniqlo’s Knitwear Section Is Full Of Expensive-Looking Pieces – Here’s What Will Sell Out First

It's fair to say I'm not an autumn/winter girl. Give me linen layers and floral dresses over cashmere and knee-high boots any day of the week, and I'll be happy. But unfortunately for me, we're hurtling straight towards the colder months, and I've been forced to say goodbye to my linen layers, 9 pm Aperols in a pub garden and iced coffees. However, the only real benefit of the weather turning chilly is that I'm finally reunited with my jumper collection, which, until this point in the year, has been tucked away safely underneath my bed. Now that it's almost time to style wearing said jumpers, I've realised that most of my favourites have come from one high street hero: Uniqlo. So, that's exactly where I'll be heading to top up my knitwear selection this year, and trust me, you should too.

Uniqlo's knitwear is, without a doubt, one of the best on the high street. For a start, its cashmere is incredibly affordable, and considering most cashmere favourites are usually over the £100 mark, it's no surprise that Uniqlo has become the go-to place for a more accessible take. Then, there's the Uniqlo range designed by ex-Givenchy artistic director, Clare Waight Keller, which is always celebrated for its knitwear. If that isn't enough to convince you to invest in Uniqlo's knitwear selection, then there's also the sheer range of it – we're talking everything from Merino cardigans and ribbed trousers to cosy round necks that are all incredibly versatile and easy to wear. Take Uniqlo's Souffle Yarn Crew Neck Jumper as an example, which can be styled slung over your shoulders with a white t-shirt and jeans, or worn underneath a barn jacket.

Another standout piece of knitwear is the Wool Blend Polo Jumper, which features a buttoned-down front and preppy collar. Perhaps the best part about the polo jumper, as opposed to a round neck, is the fact that you can layer a white t-shirt underneath (I'd highly recommend Uniqlo's Airism range) and throw on a longline wool coat over the top. Finish the winter-ready outfit with a pair of pointed boots and corduroy trousers, and you're good to head out, whether you're on the way to the office or for brunch.

So, as I sift through my current jumper collection and determine where it needs a refresh, I'll be taking my own advice and heading straight to Uniqlo. With so many different types of knitwear on offer, from lightweight merino for layering to cashmere that feels far more expensive than it is, there's a style to fill every knitwear gap. The designs are deliberately simple (it's kind of Uniqlo's USP), but that's what makes the pieces so great – boxy cuts, a range of colours and the kind of minimalism that goes with everything you already have in your wardrobe. Uniqlo's knitwear selection features the kind of pieces worth investing in now, not because they'll ruin your monthly budget, but because you'll find yourself reaching for them year after year. And, when you go to take out your jumper selection next autumn/winter, you'll be glad Uniqlo's knitwear is already there, ready and waiting.
