When hunting for the perfect summer dress, I'm confronted with quite a few obstacles. As a girl that's relatively petite (read: very very short) finding the perfect dress is sometimes as tedious as trying to win the lottery. They're either too long, too wide or too baggy, and I end up abandoning ship in favour of a pair of jeans or linen trousers. That was, however, till I discovered the beauty of Next dresses.

Next is one of those rare retailers that seems to do it all - and their dress section is no exception. Naturally, the fashion crowd has spotlighted a few standout styles this season, but my personal favourite has to be a trend-forward polka dot midi that’s quietly stealing the show. And I’m clearly not the only one who thinks so - the fashion set has gravitated toward this frock too, with its popularity further cemented on Instagram, where it’s been spotted on style insiders everywhere. Enter: Cream Spot Puff Hem Halter Neck Midi Dress.

The dotty number is one of many polka dot dresses making rounds on Instagram. Its flattering halter-neck design sets it apart from the rest, and the style is also available in petite for those who are 5"4 and under.

Whether you’re on the hunt for the dress - the perfect midi or maxi that’ll take you from sipping cocktails in Santorini to exploring Bali’s beaches, or even just enjoying a sunny picnic in your local park - you’re in the right place. Maybe you need something that can be dressed up with strappy heels and statement jewellery, or pared back with chunky sandals and a wide-brimmed hat. Either way, we’re confident you’ll find it at Next.

With hundreds of styles available in petite, regular and tall, you no longer have to panic about finding a dress that actually fits. Shop the best Next summer dresses below that start at just £19.

How do I style a summer dress?

The most fool proof way of styling a summer dress is with some chunky sandals, they'll make your look a little more interesting and will also keep your feet cool and comfortable during the warmer months. Also think about pairing your summer dress with a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun rays at bay and add a dash of old Hollywood glamour. Accessorise with a statement necklace, chunky bangle or some oversized sunglasses (or all three) for the chicest look.
