It's the outfit formula many of us have spent a lifetime trying to finesse. Now Bella Hadid has proved, once again, that 'jeans and a nice top' is the ultimate when it comes to nailing spring dressing.

Spotted yesterday, Hadid's ensemble is all the evidence we need to stick to separates, saving breezy dresses for later in the season when it's even balmier. The model's included jeans in a light blue wash that feel appropriate for warmer spring weather and an off-the-shoulder jersey top that isn't designer with a four-figure price tag, but high street. Yes, Hadid has recently discovered Me+Em - the brand loved by politicians and royalty this side of the pond - and the top in question is £85.

Made of soft jersey and designed to be worn off the shoulders, it's the kind of top that can go from day to night, office to after-work drinks, with a surprising amount of ease, pairing just as well with straight-leg jeans as it does with relaxed drawstring trousers or tailored knee-length shorts.
Hadid's finishing touches were also subtly '00s - the era when this particular outfit formula reigned supreme - namely a pair of Chanel tinted shades with a rimless silhouette, brown court heels and a woven belt with a statement buckle. The final flourish? A leather jacket that she didn't wear but simply clutched in her left hand. (Whistles's burnished leather blouson has already sold out once and has the same 'wear', giving it a vintage feel that's particular on trend this season.)
With sunny weather on the horizon until the weekend, here's hoping we can do the same.
