This £139.99 Coat Is The Most Popular Thing On Amazon (Even Emma Stone Has One)

Remember that Zara dress? Absolutely everyone you knew (and didn't know) had it, it was sold out in many, many stores and it even had its own Instagram account. Well, this Amazon coat is even more popular if you can believe it – mainly in America, where it seems every woman owns one. And yes, it has its own Instagram account. In fact, it even has celebrity fans, most notably Emma Stone, who was spotted in the coat back in January.

The coat is not even a new phenomenon. According to the New York Times (yes, even the New York Times has been writing about this coat), it became almost ubiquitous on the streets of New York around 2017 and is now a favourite among the women of the Upper East Side. Does this mean we can expect to see it in the newly rebooted series ofGossip Girl?

So, why is the Orolay coat so popular? It's practical, of course – windproof, waterproof, warm and with a hood – and made Emma Stone look very cosy indeed when she was photographed in it. Other than that, it's not particularly different from any other warm, down-filled, khaki coat (also available in 10 other colours), so why does everyone want one so much?

Perhaps it's the price – it's £139.99, which is often reduced in various sales (keep your eyes peeled for Amazon's Black Friday deals later this week). This is relatively inexpensive when compared to the 'performance' coats on the market from the likes of Moncler and Canada Goose. Delivery, too, is obviously very convenient, this being Amazon and all.

It's also quite fascinating that the coat doesn't seem to have taken off here in the UK in anything like the same way that it has in America. While the Zara dress was a global phenomenon, this coat remains a US sensation, although maybe this will change thanks to the A-list endorsement of Stone. I, for one, have been influenced. And the best news of all? If I order it now, it will be delivered tomorrow.
