Goodbye Shorts, Hello Track Pants – Adidas Has Done It Again

According to Google, summer officially ends on the 22nd of September. But honestly, you can already feel the shift. The air is cooler, iced coffees are slowly being swapped for hot ones, and people keep whispering that word… autumn. If that’s music to your ears, this article has your name written all over it. And if you’re getting your wardrobe ready for the new season, let me introduce the next must have: Adidas track pants. Yes, the track pants - not the shorts.

Because let’s be real, Adidas shorts had a chokehold on summer. I’m still seeing that picture of Zoë Kravitz with an iced coffee in hand, wearing the black pair, all over my feed. It was practically the mood board of hot weather. Everyone was wearing them - friends, influencers, celebs and they gave off that whole ‘borrowed from the boys’ look. Think retro, football, and vintage.

Now though, the longer version is stepping in for autumn. The popper iteration did have their moment earlier this year, thanks to Hailey Bieber, but now the masses are going minimal. And fashion people are already there. Searches for Adidas track pants have quietly started climbing, and you just know they’re about to have the same viral moment. And the styling? Surprisingly versatile. I’ve seen track pants dressed up with blazers, shirts, even tailored coats. Pieces you wouldn’t usually throw on with sportswear somehow work perfectly. Alexa Chung nailed it in a long blazer layered over a shirt with hers. Looks mismatched but cleverly done, the kind of outfit you screenshot for later.
