Whether you’ve got a toddler clinging to your leg or have turned your downstairs cupboard into a kind of video call lair thanks to five talkative housemates, your working from home life is probably wearing thin right now. As for your wardrobe, well, let’s just say that what started out well (brushed hair, bra, ironed shirt, ‘Zoom earrings’) has since gone south (camera off, period). Don’t laugh, or virtually punch me in the face, but there is an unlikely source of inspiration for us all when it comes to reinvigorating the old #WFHFit: Paris Fashion Week. The glamorous front rows were just as glamorous (if not slightly more covered) and proof - definitive proof! - that celebrities have been falling prey to the same habits as we have.
The first outfit that you can copy wholesale is Alicia Vikander’s. She wore leggings (yes, leggings) to Louis Vuitton, which she smartened up with a few easy additions like court heels, a utility jacket and a white blouse with an extravagantly-sized collar. Doable - right? - and the definition of clever waist-up dressing if ever we saw one.
Next up, Caroline de Maigret. The model wore a luxe tracksuit to Chanel - I kid you not - and paired it with two-tone boots and a quilted handbag. Send your boss the above picture if they so much as raise an eyebrow at your stretchy ensemble, capiche?
At Paco Rabanne, Natalia Vodianova wore a simple slip dress with a beige overcoat. She’s definitely onto something. The slip is such a versatile, not to mention comfortable, item of clothing. Wear over a long-sleeved top, or under a cashmere sweater, and it will almost be as comfortable as joggers.
Finally, if you genuinely need to dress up, Lous and the Yakuza has the answer, a pastel trouser suit paired with a polo neck. Simple, chic and, whisper it, you could always swap the trousers out for leggings when your camera’s safely switched off.
