Whether or not you've gone for a gingerly walk in the park since it snowed, you might have noticed that, despite this meteorological phenomenon happening almost yearly, we don't really know how to dress for properly cold weather. Some runners are still wearing shorts (!), while other walkers are carrying on with bare necks and gloveless hands. So thank goodness for actual street style happening at Stockholm Fashion Week. The Swedish are not only pros at cold-weather dressing, but they're somehow managing to make it all look rather stylish, despite temperatures reaching as low as -9°C during the day. Don't brave the elements until you've absorbed these lessons.

Wear Leggings With Everything

Sarah Jessica Parker does it, and so does influencer Emma Fridsell. We're talking about wearing leggings with everything, skirts, dresses, you name it, especially a pair with stylish stirrups. Add a balaclava for (almost) 100% coverage.

Upgrade Your Bucket Hat

You'd be mad to leave the house without a hat and the ultimate is fuzzy bucket that comes with in-built insulation. Amina Nur Khaire's is from Stand Studio, and we also love Emma Brewin.

Have A Duvet Day

For sub-zero temperatures, there's only one option: quilted coats that are almost like wearing a duvet. Copy Chili Bendt, who paired her belted style with monochrome accessories for extra polish.

Choose Clever Layers

Paulina Vinter knows a thing or two about cold-weather layering. Not only is she wearing a dress over her trousers - giving the bottom half of her body extra protection - but said trousers are so wide that you could easily squeeze a pair of leggings underneath. Add some heat-tech and she might even be approaching warm.

Get On Your Accessories A-Game

Stylish Julian Hernandez hasn't thrown on his scarf as an afterthought. Its colourful checks, instead are the star of his otherwise pared-back outfit. Begg x Co's cashmere beanie hats, which come in bright bi-colours, are an excellent place to start. Ditto Acne Studios scarves.

Let Your Coat Do The Heavy-Lifting

Florence Fabian Ogbay's coat, with dramatically-sharp shoulders and sculpted waist, makes such a statement that no-one gives two hoots about what's happening underneath (our guess: lots of woolly layers).
