In a fashion land far far away, there was a bride-to-be, who dreamt of wearing Oscar de la Renta. Layers of ivory tulle, pansy lace, floral embroidery…
Okay, so the price for the dress in question would cost more than your actual wedding. But this is a dream, right? And money is a mere detail, to be ignored, right?
Reality and bank account check aside…We can still glory in the week-long spectacle that is otherwise known as ‘Bridal Fashion Week’ in New York. And ODLR’s new creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, as expected, brought the goods.
Think XXL ball gowns, super chic pantsuits and actual converse (customised, naturally) on the wedding agenda for 2018. 'We're taking the Oscar DNA and making it ours,’ Kim tells Fashionista. ‘Making it lighter, sexier and a little bit more playful'.
And there was one look in particular that grabbed our attention – channelling our ‘forever fashion icon’: SJP.
‘We had a little homage to the Sarah Jessica Parker moment with the [Oscar de la Renta] signature on the skirt,’ Garcia says (referencing her black and white Met Gala gown in 2014).
But we couldn’t help but wonder…That the whole outfit screams of Carrie Bradshaw.
The ballerina-style tulle skirt? The ‘Just Married’ necklace? The simple off-white vest? Sex and the City fans will be all-too familiar with this ensemble by now…
