Is This The New Carrie Necklace?

Fans of Sex and the City may well find it difficult to think of any other piece of jewellery worn by Carrie Bradshaw than her nameplate necklace. Not only did she wear it in (almost) every episode, it formed the basis of some storylines (remember when she falls in Dior in Paris and thinks she's lost it?) and her character was even credited with making nameplate necklaces popular in the 1990s. (This isn't strictly true, however. Carrie may have brought them to the attention of the Sex and the City audience but nameplate necklaces actually emerged from Black and Hispanic communities in the 1970s.) It might surprise you, then, to know that it's nowhere to be seen in And Just Like That...

While the new HBO Max show isn't set to be released until later this year, we have been inundated with photographs of the actors filming in New York. Among the outfits worn by Miranda and Charlotte, the eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that all of Carrie's looksseem to be missing her nameplate necklace. And it looks like it has been replaced by a new piece of jewellery entirely.

In almost every parazzi shot that's emerged from the set, Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing a gold pendant in the shape of New York State. She's worn it with pearls, on its own and layered up with other styles. So far, no information has been released as to where the necklace comes from, but there are several similar styles available online, including this one.

There are also lots of very similar-looking necklaces available on Etsy, so could this be a sign that Carrie has had a 2021 makeover? Pictures have shown her to hardly be without a cotton tote bag and we know she's hosting her own podcast, too. Is she also trawling Etsy for small businesses to support?
