With the Euros in full swing, all eyes are on Germany. But despite TV screens in every local restaurant and crowded public viewings in the pouring rain, the German fashion set put their soccer obsession to the side on Tuesday evening to devote their attention to the musings of Marc Cain’s spring/summer ‘25 show.
Held in the Grand Palais of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, the rain came to a sudden halt when it was time to reveal the German brand’s new collection. The venue was, undoubtedly, a fitting choice; built by the Prussian King Frederick the Great as his summer palace, the new season’s offering blended in seamlessly against the backdrop of the baroque building.
As with any Marc Cain show - the brand celebrated its 50th anniversary last summer - A-listers came to show their support for the brand. This time, it was Bridgerton’s Jessica Madsen and Kelly Rutherford, known for her role as Lily van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, who made a surprise appearance in the front row.
And what was on show distracted celebrities and fashion press from the weather’s mood swings playing out in the background. A kaleidoscopic flurry of pastels made a convincing case for colour, while boho-adjacent floral dresses delivered the ultimate proof that the floral dress, well, isn’t dead yet. Elsewhere metallic knit separates completed the well-rounded resort wardrobe proposition on show, and pointed, flat shoes, paired with the matching bags, served the brand’s accessories offering well. And peppered in between were turbo-charged metallic trench coats, tailored pieces and uber-covetable shirting. In short, all you could ask of a solid summer wardrobe.
