It's official: people can't get enough of Balenciaga. For the third time running, the brand has topped The Lyst Index, the global search platform's report which ranks fashion's hottest brands and products by analysing the shopping behaviour of more than 160 million online shoppers a year. Gucci claimed the second spot, followed by Louis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino and Dior. Hot products that made the list include thatMiu Miu micro mini, two pairs of jumbo platforms (Naked Wolfe boots and Valentino's Tan-Go pumps), and Ugg's mini boots.
It's not hard to see why Balenciaga continues to generate a feverish fandom. Not only is it always on-point when it comes to creating cult products - see, Euphoria's Alexa Demie carrying its neon yellow Le Cagole XS Shoulder Bag - but it's been busy providing some of the red carpet's most directional (read: interesting) looks.
Kim Kardashian's sculpted and gloved turquoise gown (which she wore with cycling-style shades) was one of our favourites at the Oscars. Ditto her sister, Kendall Jenner, who arrived in a frothy black frock that put a modern spin on the ball gown.
Balenciaga's creative director, Demna, also delivered one of the biggest talking points at Paris Fashion Week, staging a show that saw models walking through a simulated snow storm and leaving notes on each seat about the unfolding crisis in Ukraine. This year also saw the launch of Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, the latest cult collab between Ye, Demna and Gap.
