For the first time since the start of the pandemic, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on a royal tour. And one thing's for sure: Kate Middleton's tour wardrobe - AKA the tourdrobe - is on-point.
To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, members of the royal family will be visiting a number of countries in the Commonwealth, celebrating 70 years of her accession. In what will be their first overseas tour together this year, the Cambridges will visit Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas, travelling for a week from March 19 to 26.
The Cambridges touched down in Philip S. W Goldson International Airport in Belize City on Saturday, marking the start of the tour. For their arrival, Middleton stepped off the plane wearing a fitted lace dress in royal blue from Jenny Packham, along with similarly bright pumps from one of her favourite shoe brands Emmy London.
On day two, the Duke and Duchess visited the Che'il Mayan Chocolate Factory in Maya Center Village, Southern Belize, where they were given a tour of the cocoa plantation farm and shown how the chocolate is made. Wearing a Tory Burch midi dress, Stuart Weitzman wedges and Sézane earrings, Middleton debuted the start of her tourdrobe. Next stop was a coastal village, Hopkins, noted as being the cultural centre for the Garifuna community in Belize.
During day three, William and Kate visited the ancient Mayan archaeological site, Caracol, located deep in the jungle of the Chiquibul Forest. Later on in the evening, Middleton shone in a bright pink shimmering gown by The Vampire's Wife to attend Cahal Pech where the Governor General of Belize hosted a reception to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
On day four, she wowed in three different outfits, two of which were vintage. One was a belted red jacket from YSL, which she styled with wide-leg white trousers and a matching bag from Mulberry; the other, a striped and printed dress from the '50s that was sourced from Cheltenham's Willow Hilson.
For day five, Middleton packed power tailoring, a crisp white blazer from Alexander McQueen, paired with a bold orange blouse by Ridley London, and another vintage find (a woven tangerine bag) from Willow Hilson. Later on in the evening, she stole the show in an emerald green gown by Jenny Packham.
In addition to Kate and William's tour, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will visit the Republic of Ireland from March 23 to 25, while Princess Anne will visit Papua New Guinea from April 11 to 13.
Kate recently completed a two-day visit to Copenhagen, and dressed for the occasion in a red blazer from Zara, so excitement has been brewing about what she wears (or re-wears) on this tour.
The Royal Train Tour at the end of 2020 saw her recycle some of her favourites from over the years. For the last stop back at Windsor Castle, Kate wore a forest green coat from Catherine Walker. And while she might have tricked you into thinking it was new, she actually just added a black faux-fur trim to the same coat that she'd worn earlier that year while in Ireland.
Back in 2019, the Duke and Duchess visited Pakistan for a four-day tour and displayed an array of diplomatic fashions that saw Kate Middleton subtly paying homage to her host country and her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. It's not surprising, considering how fond Princess Diana was of Pakistan, making her first trip to the country in 1991 and visiting again two more times.
