We're only two months in to 2022 and already we've been offered news of Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga AND a Primark x Greggs collab (yes really), suggesting there really is no limit to what the world of fashion will treat us to next.
The latest sartorial launch doesn't disappoint. In a meeting of two design giants, Jimmy Choo has teamed up with the house of Mugler, bringing together two power houses of the fashion world for a collaboration that just makes sense.
Casey Cadwallader, who has been at the helm of Mugler since 2017, explains: 'A shoe finishes the look and defines character. I have always associated Jimmy Choo with a very strong sense of sculpture in shoes, a balance of sharpness and curve. Both Mugler and Jimmy Choo are forward and sensual, and both worn by strong and confident women. That's why this collaboration makes so much sense.'
Since Manfred Thierry Mugler – who sadly died last month – launched his eponymous fashion label back in the 1970s, Mugler has long been a red carpet favourite serving iconic celebrity moments decade after decade. May we remind you of Kim Kardashians' show-stopping Met Gala dress back in 2019? It made looking like you'd been caught in the rain a very glamorous prospect indeed.
This new campaign, shot by Harley Weir, launches worldwide today. Sandra Choi, Creative Director of Jimmy Choo, says, 'Mugler and Jimmy Choo are about strength - our women are strong, glamorous and in-control. Here, our women are literally the centre of every image: they are the stars. That these images are captured by a female photographer also adds an extra dimension - Harley’s work always celebrates femininity, a view of women by a woman. There’s an inherent strength to that, which is very Mugler, and quintessentially Jimmy Choo.'
What more could we ask for in a fashion collab?
