Gloria Steinem made her New York Fashion Week debut this week, sitting front row at Prabal Gurung's politically-charged show on Sunday.
The iconic activist and journalist, who is often credited as being the leader of the American feminist movement, was the guest of honour at Gurung's spring/summer 2018 collection, having inspired him the previous season. For autumn/winter 2017, he sent his models down the runway wearing tees and jumpers emblazoned with feminist quotes, citing Steinem as his muse.

Joining her on the FROW were Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton's right-hand woman and the ex-wife of Anthony Weiner, Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson and poet Cleo Wade. Rounding off the right-on aesthetic of the show were a diverse roll-call of models, including plus size star Ashley Graham, trans Andrea Pejic and of course, the Hadids. Gurung himself came out at the end wearing a T-shirt that said 'Resist With Love', while guests left with ones that said 'I Am Michelle'.
The collection itself riffed on old signatures; cut-outs, ruffles and a bold colour palette of turquoise, yellow and indigo. Our favourite pieces were probably the safest bets - the hippie-ish floral print dresses with thigh-high split that closed the show.
