And just like that, it was over. But not without a bang. Carrie Bradshaw knows how to save the best until last, bringing out a dress last night that deserved an episode all of its own for the finale of AJLT.
SJP revealed the gown a few days ago on Instagram, posting a series of behind-the-scenes pictures that showed her filming the final scenes from a bridge in Paris. For those who haven't seen the episode, she was dressed in the most extravagant gown, a tangerine-coloured dream with elaborate puffed sleeves and a bow-tie at the back.
The dress is Valentino Haute Couture, one of the most bankable brands when it comes to delivering a 'wow' moment'.
Some fans asked whether she spent her inheritance on the dress - couture famously costs an arm and leg - while fashion commentators saw the humorous side. 'We’ve all cosplayed as a couture Kool-Aid man to scatter some ashes out of a comedy purse. Right?'Alexander Fury commented on a post by @everyoutfitonsatc.
She paired the gown with silk gloves (in a delightful shade of pomegranate pink), pointed pumps with square buckles and a clutch bag shaped like the Eiffel Tower (fans will recognise it from the first movie) that had a starring role to play. Even if you've been left cold by what's come before, this is one outfit that couldn't help but get the blood pumping.
