Noughties fashion icons. Where does your mind wonder to: Paris Hilton? Sienna Miller circa 2003 (aka, the reason we all wore chunky boho belts, arm cuffs and billowing maxi dresses)? Carrie Bradshaw?

Yes, to all the above. But the pop princess who defined the high-low fashion of that decade has to be Britney, of course - whether she was making a case for coloured shades on the red carpet to B and JT’s matching double denim outfits at the 2001 American Music Awards. And the singer was never one to shy away from shock value in her music videos and performances in her heyday. Hello, fancy dress inspo…

So Britney Spears fans will be pleased to hear seven of her most iconic costumes are up for auction on eBay – including that bikini and hotpants combo she wore in her ‘Slave 4 U’ music video (python not included!) and a custom-made Atelier Versace dress that Spears wore to the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

At the time of publishing, the listing on eBay is currently at $99,995.00 (the sellers reserve price has yet to be met at $100,000). The owner says: ‘I've collected theses outfits since 2003 when Britney auctioned them off,’ adding ‘they are all authentic with Authenticity Certificates.’ Bidding ends 12th May, so if you fancy investing in some fashion history, and have a spare £80,000 lying around you can view the listing here.
