I don't need to tell you... it's hot. As I daydream of setting up camp in a picturesque shady spot, book in one hand and an ice-cold rosé in the other, my reality is sweaty commutes, chilly office aircon and lightly burnt shoulders. All of these factors make getting dressed tricky, especially when you need to look semi-put-together or even, dare I say, professional. Which leads me to marvel at Emma Stone's most recent summer outfit, masterminded by long-term stylist Petra Flannery, it manages to nail the sweet spot between smart and casual and more importantly, cool, in all senses of the word.

Before appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Emma Stone was pictured strolling along the streets of Los Angeles dressed in a simple black T-shirt, long white skirt, timeless black sunglasses and strappy black kitten heels by shoe label Jude, a brand beloved by the A-list. So, whilst Stone’s designer outfit will come with a pretty hefty price tag, you can easily find alternatives that are a little more purse-friendly if you don’t already have similar items in your wardrobe.

What’s even better, this look is so simple to recreate, sure, it helps if you’re a Hollywood superstar with the perfect cropped haircut and pristine make-up, but I can assure you this easy outfit will be a winner when it comes to finding the perfect warm-weather, office-friendly get up.

Starting off with a black T-shirt, if you've not already got one then COS' black t-shirt nails the brief perfectly.

A white skirt is a summer wardrobe hero, you'll be surprised just how many times this will be in your wardrobe rotation all season long. Wear with a simple black tee and heels for evenings or workwear (a la Emma Stone) or with a bikini and flip flops for days at the beach.

Strappy, kitten heel sandals are a true wardrobe investment as you'll wear them on repeat. A dressier upgrade from Birkenstocks but still comfortable and easy to walk in.

Persol oval frame sunglasses

If you're going to invest in a designer item, sunglasses are a great place to start. Take note from Emma Stone and consider Persol's classic black shades in a timeless oval frame, a pair you'll keep forever.
