Few brands do effortless summer style better than Zara – just ask the Duchess of Cambridge, who wore an off-the-shoulder embroidered style by the Spanish high street brand for a low-key Bank Holiday outing with her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
A week after attending the wedding of her brother-in-law Prince Harry, the Duchess was photographed accompanying George, four, and Charlotte, three, to the Houghton Horse Trials in Norfolk (not too far from the Cambridges’ country home on the Sandringham Estate, Anmer Hall) wearing the £39.99 cold-shoulder style in light blue, which features floral appliqué embroidery across the front and sleeves and a contrasting belt in navy blue at the waist. It’s unsurprising that the affordable dress quickly sold out on the Zara website after these photos of the Duchess emerged online, though it’s likely that the style will still be available in stores.

The Duchess’s eldest children appeared to be enjoying the family-friendly event, with Charlotte photographed eating a strawberry ice cream and George climbing into an air ambulance vehicle (much like the ones that his father, Prince William, would be familiar with from his time as a pilot with the East Anglian air ambulance service). It seems that the horse trials are a long-standing favourite day out for the Cambridge family: Kate and William were pictured with George and Charlotte at the event back in 2016, along with their friends James Meade and Lady Laura Marsham.
Though she’s often associated with higher-end labels like Emilia Wickstead, Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen, the Duchess is famously an advocate of high street fashion, and has previously worn Zara for a number of occasions both high-profile and low-key. When departing for her honeymoon back in 2011, she famously wore a blue summer dress by the brand (which she’s since re-worn four times); similarly, she’s re-worn a Zara coat dress in blue tweed and a structured navy blazer for a handful of royal events. Last year, she was photographed arriving at her sister Pippa’s wedding in a floral summer dress by the brand (before changing into a more formal Alexander McQueen ensemble for the ceremony).
