2020’s most in-demand accessory has been, without a doubt, the face mask. As we struggled to stay safe and stylish, we found ourselves looking to our favourite celebrities for a little inspiration. And now that we’ve had 2020’s first major red carpets since the pandemic hit — the VMAs and the Venice Film Festival — we’ve been given a glimpse at how the humble face mask can go glam.
While the red carpet itself might be a whole new ball game this year (gone are the days of cast-wide group shots and cosy hugs), the A-listers aren’t letting that get the best of them. We saw Lady Gaga sport a whole collection of unique face masks at the VMAs and in Venice, Maya Hawke and Arizona Muse made the case for matching your face mask to your dress.
It certainly isn’t what we thought we’d be seeing on the red carpet this year, but as it looks like face masks are going to be our go-to accessory for the foreseeable, let’s take a look at how celebrities are styling them. Which team are you: matching with your gown or quick-and-easy disposable?
