Rumours of an engagement have been circling since December last year, with fans convinced the pair were already set to be wed after the 35-year-old was spotted wearing a giant ring at her Eras tour-themed bash. Alas, fans got ahead of themselves.

The proposal comes after two years together, with their relationship beginning when Kelce made a public play for Swift by telling listeners of his podcast, New Heights, that tried (and failed) to shoot his shot at one of Swift’s concerts. The athlete revealed that he had come prepared with a bunch of Eras-tour friendship bracelets, including one with his phone number on it that he’d intended to give to the popstar. Sharing that he was 'a little butt hurt' at not being able to get some one-on-one time with the star, Kelce then did the only thing that an athlete could do – invite Swift to see him shine on his own stage, NFL style.
He shared, ‘I threw the ball in her court. I said, “I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead, and see which one’s a little more lit.” We’ll see what happens in the near future.’
Two years later, the pair recalled the experience on a special episode of Kelce’s podcast, saying ‘It was such a wild, romantic gesture.’ And long may they continue!
