After the news of Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift's split broke yesterday, the Scottish DJ took to Twitter to confirm the break-up (sob), and to clear up any rumours about bad blood between the pair.

According to Harris (real name Adam Wiles), 'the only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,' a sentiment which Taylor confirmed with a re-tweet. The singer is yet to comment directly on the break-up, although eagle-eyed Instagram followers will note that she has deleted the image she posted of herself dancing during Calvin's Coachella set (but we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the swan picture remains...)

Calvin's Twitter comments are likely a response to the rumour mill going into overdrive about what could have cause music's golden couple to break up.

'Taylor and Adam had no big blowout fight, but the romance just was not there anymore for them. Adam is the one that ended it. It was all done in a very mature fashion. Taylor is pretty upset but they are still in communication. Taylor was there for Adam with his accident and supportive,' a source told E!

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have broken up after 15 months together, according to a new report from People magazine.

A source told the magazine, 'There was no drama. Things just don't work out sometimes. No one cheated.' Further reports have suggested that it was Calvin who called time on the relationship.

'They were just not very compatible in different areas in their relationship. The touring and traveling didn't help. It seemed like they were more friends than lovers,' another insider told E! News.

The split news comes just over a week after the DJ was involved in a car crash on the way to the airport in LA. As a result of his injuries, he was forced to cancel performances in Omnia and Alabama.

It was just last month that Taylor, who was introduced to Calvin by mutual friend Ellie Goulding at the BRIT Awards after paty in 2015, described her relationship as 'magical' in an interview with US Vogue.

'I'm just taking things as they come. I'm in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low key... This is the one thing that's been mine about my personal life,' she said.

In the same interview, the singer also spoke out about the huge level of press interest surrounding her love life. 'I went out on a normal amount of dates in my early 20s, and I got absolutely slaughtered for it,' she said. 'It took a lot of hard work and altering my decision making. I didn't date for two and a half years. Should I have had to do that? No.'

In March, the couple celebrated their one year anniversary with a much-Instagrammed trip to paradise, complete with a return of the inflatable swan that featured in the pair's first ever Instagram post.

The couple have yet to official comment on the split, but is anyone else wondering what's going to happen to the olive tree that Calvin gave Taylor for Christmas? And who will get custody of the swan?
