Another day, another Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion update.
First we heard Posh Spice Victoria Beckham was going to have nothing to do with it (which wasn't a HUGE surprise, let's face it – not least since she recently revealed they used to turn her mike off at gigs anyway – the cheek!).
Then we heard, which was far more surprising, that Mel C had removed herself from Spice Girls reunion talks too – sources cited she wanted to focus on a more serious music career.
Next, we heard news (and had photographic evidence) of Mel B, Geri and Emma in a recording studio, fuelling rumours that a reunion song was imminent. THEN, more rumours emerged, this time of a feud between Mel B and Mel C – over the reunion debacle perhaps?
Argh. See what we mean? This reunion is taking forever...
Finally though, we now have some finite information to report. Sadly though, it ain't good news for fans wanting to celebrate the 20th anniversary, in this, the 20th year. So if you are such a fan, look away now...
Speaking to Live with Kelly yesterday, Mel B said: 'This is the thing. It is our 20th anniversary this year and this would be the perfect year, but places get booked out so what we’ll hopefully do is plan to do something to celebrate next year.'
Next year? NEXT year?! What are you doing to us?!
Thankfully, she then went on to reassure us that there will actually be a reunion – so there's comfort to be taken in that at least. 'It’s something that we want to do and it will be nice to celebrate and give thanks to all of the fans,' she said.
'I’m not getting any younger,' she continued, 'let’s hurry up and get it done.'
We couldn't agree more Mel B – we're not getting any younger either. In fact, that we can't keep up with all these to-ings and fro-ings is showing us how much older we're getting. Please don't keep us waiting much longer, please...!
